Project Story

We designed this 4-unit, 2-building development to balance modern rental opportunities and community harmony. Designed for a private developer, the project features two primary units and two secondary suites in each building, offering eight units in total.

Glenbrook, known for its predominantly single-family and semi-detached homes, is welcoming one of its first 4-plex developments with this design. We aimed to reflect the community’s aesthetic with a more traditional exterior, integrating modern layouts and ample windows to enhance natural light. 

Key Features

• Primary & Secondary Suites: Each building features two primary units and two secondary suites, maximizing livable space and rental potential.
• Traditional Exterior Design: The exterior harmonizes with Glenbrook’s classic community aesthetic, ensuring the development respects neighbouring homes.
• Enhanced Natural Light: Dividing the development into two buildings allowed for windows on both sides, creating bright and inviting spaces for tenants.
• Community-Conscious Design: The development’s scale and style respect the existing neighbourhood fabric, maintaining Glenbrook’s charm while introducing an innovative multi-family option.

Challenges

As one of Glenbrook’s first 4-plex developments, the project required thoughtful design to fit within a community of single-family and semi-detached homes. The design blends the community’s evolving needs with tradition by opting for a traditional exterior and respecting the neighborhood’s scale.
