Project Story

Our client for this project was a developer who wanted to build a home backing on to the Elbow River that would be stunning and appeal to a broad range of future purchasers.  As developers, they came completely prepared with a clear and well-defined direction.  They were fully engaged throughout the design process and were able to communicate their vision clearly through face to face meetings and with pictures to clarify their style preferences.

Challenges & Solutions

While riverfront homes have amazing views, they certainly come with their challenges. Being so close to the floodplain meant that we had to raise the basement out of the ground and ensure the mechanical equipment was at a suitable height for the city’s planning dept.

With a high main and second floor we had a challenge of designing the home under the allowable building height.
